My friends and I used to ditch school and go to the trails in Elysian Park to hide out. We would walk for hours and not see anyone up there but other kids ditching from other schools. I would gear up on rainy days and walk the empty rainy muddy trails, and walk all the way through Solano to Chinatown. It’s still pleasant and beautiful, though there has been a yuppie, hipster invasion.
